QUEZON CITY — Sen. Rodante Marcoleta was arrested on Monday, July 6, after the Sandiganbayan denied his motion to quash the plunder charges filed against him and three others and promptly issued a warrant for his arrest and those of his co-respondents.
The arrest of Marcoleta came after he arrived at the graft court’s Third Division, which heard his motion to quash the charges after issuing a warrant of arrest. The arrest would prevent the neophyte senator from participating in the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte at the Senate, which begins July 6, his day of arrest, as plunder is an unbailable offense.
